Megan Stoll-Rollyson

Megan Rollyson was born April 28th, 1983, and grew up in a small town in Down East Maine. She moved to South Florida in 2005, and shortly after discovered Jiu-Jitsu.

Megan was introduced to Master Carlos Rollyson and the sport by a mutual friend, who was already a student of Master Rollyson’s. She began training under Carlos and developed a passion for Jiu-Jitsu; in November of 2006, she earned her Blue Belt. Not long after realizing her love for the sport, Megan and Carlos realized they had fallen in love with each other; they were married in July of 2007 and opened their first gym together the same year.

She owes her growth in Jiu-Jitsu to Master Rollyson, saying, “I was lucky to find a Master who helps you utilize your individual strengths. If I couldn’t do a move with as much strength as the men, he always found a way to tailor it to my body type. As a female, I’ll never be as strong as a man, but I can have more technique, giving me a chance to win.”

In 2011, as a Blue Belt, Megan went to her first big tournament, The IBJJF’s Worlds, and won a Bronze Medal. That same year she again competed at the IBJJF Miami Open, winning second place. Although an injury has stopped her competitive career, she continues to train and teach within the school.

In 2019, after many years of practice, she was awarded her black belt, making her Master Rollyson’s first-ever female black belt.

Since opening the gym with Master Rollyson, she has instructed BRAZILIAN JIU-JITSU Kids, providing girls and young women with an example of what a female can accomplish in a sport dominated by men. Her devotion to Jiu-Jitsu and teaching children how to protect themselves and realize their potential is evident in every class she instructs.
